XL 5000 Jacket

Jenny's XL5000 Jacket

I wanted to do a project that represented all the exciting built-in features and designs of the XL5000. I decided to do a jacket and I will show you my progress as I embroider and stitch the jacket. The built-in flowers are overwhelming and beautiful and I wanted to show them off to my customers. After to playing a little bit I decided to multi-hoop each flower individually. I could have positioned more than one but doing the designs one at a time worked best when trying to sew this jacket in the store with customers watching the sewing progress.
Here is a screen of flowers on the XL5000.

Step one was to cut out the jacket. I used quilted denim and do not plan to line the jacket. I also decided to use sticky paper to stabilize the jacket while embroidering. That way I could embroider in places I could not reach otherwise.  I decided on the distance to the bottom edge and measured and drew this line on all the main pieces. To position the first flower I loaded it and placed it in a multi-hoop screen of the machine. I placed it below the X line in the screen. I drew a line on my fabric to represent X.   I then touched the intersection of Y and X to position my fabric on the sticky paper using the machine needle.
If you use a tool like the extra spool pin to touch the screen just below the flower you can see how big it is on the jacket because the machine needle will move there or point to the edge of the flower.

Here is the position screen for the multi-hoop. I moved my hoop in this step to choose the sewing area for the flower.
I sewed the first flower and drew a line right next to it. The positioning method was then repeated. Here are a few of the flowers I loaded and rotated and positioned.
My next step is to add decorative stitches in between the flowers to make the scene more realistic.
I am also going to use the continuous hoop to give a fence border to the bottom edge.
