Scallop borders for the continuous hoop

Our lesson is on creating a continuous hoop scallop border. The border can be used in any machine embroidery but will be sized for use in the continuous hoop. The first step is to turn on the continuous hoop image. Using the paint part of the PSW program, create an ellipse the size of the single scallop you wish to create for your border.

In the "edit polylines" mode you can reshape the image using the grid as a guide.

Continue to shape until you have a completed scallop and then "save as".

You can then select, copy and paste new scallops to fill the hoop!

Using the branches mode choose a zigzag underlay. Experiment with stitch outs until you are satisfied with the "padding" under the scallop. I used the magic wand fill. An added touch would be a straight stitch border. "Save as" and write to a card using the continuous hoop mode.

You can sew out a table runner with the continuous scallop border by starting at the top edge. Sew the width of the top. Trim the fabric on the right side to the same depth for the continuous hoop as the top edge and turn the corner on the end of a scallop. Sew the length of the table runner and turn the corner and continue to trim and embroider until finished.
